Doug Darrell Take the Keys

It is a right of passage when a teen gets a car. Parents go to great lengths to accommodate their teen once that magic age is reached be it 16, 17, or 18. Many provide a car for the teen's use and obviously take care of the insurance. Then the teen is off into their own new world and rarely sighted except when they come home to sleep or by the light of the frig door.

I often wonder how many parents actually take the time to sit down with their teen before they enter into this new world… Continue

Ret. Police Officer James Poer The Best Car for Your Teen Driver

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), "young novice drivers are at significant risk on the road because they lack both the judgment that comes with maturity and the skill that comes with experience." From my many years of experience investigating traffic accidents I wholeheartedly agree with this assessment and believe it is important for parents to do whatever they can to reduce the risks of driving for their teens. Charlie Spencer New Advocacy group formed to combat distracted drivers

For many years I have been complaining about the lack of laws in Pennsylvania to stop distracted driving and I am constantly reminding our state reps to pass better teen safety driver laws. Now an organization has been formed to target distracted drivers. Ret. Police Officer James Poer 5 Tips to a Better Teen Driver

Believe me, I know what you're going through. Having raised four drivers, my wife and I can agree that no matter how much education and experience you provide to a teen driver, the concerns about their safety can't be relieved. My most dreaded duty as an accident investigator is to have to notify a parent that their child has been in an accident. We expect our kids to out live us and unfortunately, too many don't. Accidents are going to happen. Kids are going to make mistakes. But there are wa… Continue

Tom Wiecek Online Home Study Driving Course Now Available

One of the biggest concerns I hear from parents is they feel the education provided by driving schools lacks enough behind the wheel driving experience. Driving instruction experts recommend at least 100 hours before allowing a new driver to drive unsupervised.

Ret. Police Officer James Poer New Years Resolutions

Most of us start off the New Year by at least considering whether we are going to make any New Year's resolutions. Generally these have to do with a healthier lifestyle, (whether it's losing weight, stopping smoking, eating healthier, drinking less, getting more exercise) or financial issues (paying off credit, saving more, etc.) Have you considered making 'driving resolutions' this year? This could positively impact both the health and financial stability of your family. Regardless of whether… Continue
